Nickie Costa Rica Adventure

Cuna del Angel (Crib of the Angel)
Day 1 --- Arrive (Cuna del Angel)

Today we will meet you at the airport in a spacious private bus. This bus is modern, has a fridge, high ceiling, and space for 22, so everyone will have plenty of room. Your drive and guide will be waiting for you outside the airport and you will begin to learn about the amazing adventure and country you will be experiencing for the next week.

Your first day will be a 2 1/2 hour drive to the area of Dominical. You will be staying in the Cuna del Angel Hotel which is a beautiful small boutique hotel surrounded by jungle. This will be a long first day and we will have dinner planned on the way to get you to the hotel to relax in the pool and get a good night's rest for the week ahead. (Meals: None)

Day 2 --- Zipline or Deep Sea-Fish (Cuna del Angel)

One of the best ziplines in the country! Here we will go off-roading into the jungle and we make our way inland to the first ridge that lies at 1200ft above sea-level and just 1km inland. The views are absolutely bomber and the zipline is filled with cables that run hundreds of yards long and a couple hundred feet off the ground. We will be surrounded by virgin tropical rainforest from start to finish. In the afternoon we will visit a nearby beach and get some boogie and surf boards if the kids are in the mood.

For those deciding to go on the deep sea-fishing they will be leaving from Cuna del Angel at around 6am. They can decide on a full or half day trip.
(Meals: Breakfast)

Day 3 --- Rappel Nuayaca (Cuna del Angel)

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of Costa Rica is the Nuayaca Falls. Here we will take you to the top of the falls, get you geared up, and then rappel 140ft down this beautiful waterfall. After the rappel we will hike down to the bottom pools and enjoy some time swimming around. We can again visit the beach in the afternoon and then hit some of the local spots for dinner.

For those that do not like heights they can have the option to horseback into the falls or they can just hike on the trail down to the falls. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 4 --- Travel to Turrialba (Casa Turire)

Today is a travel day and one of the most beautiful drives you will experience anywhere. We'll make our way up a highway that divides the country giving us a view of the Pacific and Caribbean from the same spot. At around 11,000ft we'll experience the two completely different sides of the tropics, known as the Paramo and cloud forest. Our final destination is the area of Turrialba and the Casa Turire Hotel. One of our favorite hotels in the country, this is another small boutique hotel that is great for families. You will have views of the active volcano of Turrialba. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 5 --- Duckies & Dinner Donne Fressy (Casa Turire)

Duckie Adventure
One of my favorite adventures is the duckies. These basically are our 1 or 2 man mini rafts that you and the kids can steer down the Pejibaye River. It is a great day on the river and a chance to be the guide. This is an easy river with some little rapids to keep everyone having fun. If you want a guide you can enjoy a ride with the guide like in the picture. We will prepare lunch for you on the river and there will be several places to swim along the way. When it comes to our adventure we are never in any rush, always giving time to just enjoy the experience and the beauty around. We have a guides and kayakers floating nearby giving instructions and pointing out the sights.

During the evening we will visit the village of Sitio de Mata. This small rural village located in the mountains is home to many of our river guides and a rural tourism project we have started with student groups. We will be visiting the village for dinner. You'll be served one of the best meals of the week by warm, friendly folks who instantly make you feel like family. Here you will also get a chance to see some local dance performed by the kids in the village and learn a little bit about the real culture of Costa Rica. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 6 --- Enter Pacuare (Pacuare Tent Lodge)

Won't Find this in Lake City
We save the best for last! The Pacuare River is rated as one of the top five most scenic rivers on the planet and it will live up to every bit of that for you and the group. Today you will leave the hotel around 8am and arrive at the the put-in around 9am.  All the gear is setup and waiting for you. Your CRR guides make this two of the best days ever. Surrounded by tropical rainforest from start to finish, cutting through canyons, and seeing countless amounts of waterfalls we will be immersed in it for two days.

Your lodging facility is a tent camp but by no means is it roughing it. You have private bathrooms and showers along with all your meals prepared for you by your CRR guides. From what I remember this is a graduation celebration so we will make this the official Graduation Jungle Party! (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 7 --- Leave Pacuare (La Condesa)

Enjoy the falls!
Two of the best hours you can ask for in Costa Rica come after breakfast today. We will be rafting the famous Pacuare Canyon which is home to the rapids of Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarrones, The Blender, Ping-pong, Three-Story Rapid, and Graduation! These are just a few of the 50 different rapids you will enjoy on this class III & IV section. Don't worry your CRR guides are some of the best in the country. All of our guides were on the Costa Rica National Rafting Team that placed 7th in the world last year out of 50 countries.

After we take out of the river we will make the drive back to San Jose through the Braulio Carrillo National Park where much of the movie Jurrasic Park was filmed. This is a very scenic drive and our last night will be at the La Condesa Hotel located in the mountains of Heredia just 25 minutes from the San Jose Airport. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 8 --- Fly Home!

Today we will say our good-byes and make the short drive to the San Jose Airport! (Meals: Breakfast)
