Fuchs Sample Itinerary 2013 Costa Rica

Day 1 ----- Arrive (La Condesa)

Today we will meet you outside of the San Jose airport. Our first stop will be the La Condesa Hotel which is a beautiful hotel located up in the mountains of Heredia. This will give you a chance to experience some of the higher elevation ecosystems of Costa Rica for your first two days. (Meals: None)

Day 2 ----- Poas Volcano (La Condesa)

Today will be a siteseeing day around the Central Valley. We will drive up to the Poas Volcano where you will enjoy making an easy hike to the active volcano crater. You'll be in a nice cool cloud-forest and have breath-taking views of the Central Valley. After the Volcano we will take you to one of my favorite local eateries in all of Costa Rica, Freddy Fresas place, just down the road from the crater.

Waterfall Route

After lunch we will visit a real coffee plantation and take a short tour of the history of the golden bean of Costa Rica, Coffee! In the evening it is back to the La Condesa to relax and and get some rest for day 3. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 3 ----- Travel to Arenal Volcano via Waterfall Route (Casa Luna Lodge)

Today we will start after breakfast and drive to the Arenal Volcano. The best part about today is that we will be taking a back road that is filled with astonishing views of many different waterfalls in the area. This is a great chance to see these incredible cascades from upclose and afar while not having to leave the comfort of your private transportation. Although we will stop the car to get out and take some excellent pictures anytime you want. But like most waterfalls you don't have to go trekking through the jungle for 3 hours to see these.

When we get to Arenal you will be staying in the Casa Luna Lodge which has excellent views of the volcano. (Meals: Beakfast)

Day 4 ----- Danaus Nature Reserve & Don Juan's Farm (Casa Luna Lodge)

Today our day will be spent around the base of the volcano with a chance to see it all day. We will mix our views with the volcano by visiting two very different yet very Costa Rican spots. The first is a small nature reserve that is home to many different species of the Costa Rican rainforest. Here you will see sloths, poisonous dart frogs, butterflies, and hundreds of species of birds.

Arenal Volcano

After our nature hike we will make our way to the Farm of Don Juan where you will get a feel for what life is like on an organic farm for a Costa Rican. This is an easy hiking day and a chance to experience one of the best meals you will have all week at Don Juan's farm. In the evening we can take you out to eat at some of the many different places in the the town of La Fortuna. (Meals: Breakfast & Lunch)

Day 5 ----- Travel to Dominical (Cuna del Angel)

Cuna del Angel

Today we will head to the Central Pacific Coast. We will get an early start and arrive to Dominical just after lunch where you will be staying in the luxurious Cuna del Angel. This is a small hotel with excellent food and views of the Pacific Ocean. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 6 ----- Relax & Visit beaches (Cuna del Angel)

Today you will have the chance to relax as we can drive you around and get a glimpse of the many different beaches in the area. We know the Dominical area better than any place in the country and we have some great secret spots that we love to share with our guest! It's definitely different from the FL coast. (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 7 ----- Fly Home!

It's back to the Central Valley today and SJO for your flight home where you can start planning your return trip to Costa Rica! There's still a lot more to see. (Meals: Breakfast)
